keeping my head warm

I bought this kit from Black Sheep and Ewe Knitting, a company just starting up in Toronto. The kit contained a pattern for a hat or scarf and two skeins of 100% wool. The wool is Mirage and it is made in Italy. The pattern suggested I use 10mm straight needles.

This is the 2nd time I've made this hat and to add more rows. The first I made popped right off my large noggin and now it is a gift for my niece. This is the second hat and I still think that I need to add more rows.

Not super happy with it, but it is kind of cute!

C'est la vie - all part of the learning process.

Scarves for Christmas

I just used the most interesting yarn called Woolly Bully by Estelle, Estelle Designs, Toronto. A combination of virgin wool and acrylic, the yarn was so fun to knit up. Variegated from grey to black and from unspun to spun. Knits up quickly and at 200g a skein, perfect for a medium length scarf.

I discovered it (as if!!! But, I felt I did) while I was at a wet felting workshop at the Unwind Yarn House in Newmarket. Located on Main Street, Newmarket - which is lovely, the shop is full of yummy yarn surprises!

And....wet felting was fun to try. Loved watching the unspun wool change its shape!

I'll definitely add some pictures once the pressie is unwrapped!

I knit this cap originally for myself. So small, it will make a fabulous Christmas present for my oldest niece. She'll look so cute in it! I love the variegated colours!

Sorry that you have to tilt your head to the right!]

UPDATE: Fixed the pictures so there is no tilting necessary!!

The rest of them!

Holiday Cards

I really wanted to have make some holiday cards and I just loved the handmade paper I found at Curry's Art Store. I just embellished with some of the million buttons I have and added a word or two and voila!

the creative empire has been launched

Don't you hate it when you want to wear a swishy ponytail, but then have it mashed and crushed by an unforgiving toque? Well, the coif, designed by Megan Reardon, pattern published in Amy Singer's Knit Wit is the solution. Don't I look angelic in my half hat? It knit up easily and looks sweet and keeps my head and ears warm without wrecking my pony 'do!

I like tying the cords either under my chin or at my nape!
